SOLDIER’S SONGS
Nashville To You, LLC is currently searching for original songs written by United States military personnel. The submissions will be hand-selected by major-label and multi-platinum artists who will record the original songs for a compilation album due for release at the end of this year. The purpose of the compilation is to raise money for military families through the various services' relief/aid societies, and to create awareness of the top twelve-songwriting talents in a military comprising over 1,411,634 personnel.
The focus of the compilation is to both show nonpolitical support of the military by major label artists through their artistic interpretation of songs written by service members, and also to expose military personnel to the creative process of the artists interpreting their work. Selected songwriters or their families will be invited to meet the artists interpreting their song in the studio.
"Ultimately the objective in war is to try to bring people together, bring nations together. Music does the same thing on a larger scale. If I'm in a positive mood and I'm playing, it might affect someone. War brings about change, always. So does music." Lance Cpl. Daniel Hartzog.
In the past year and a half, Lance Hartzog's 30-year-old guitar has been to Afghanistan, Crete, Malta, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and in an airtight room on the USS Bataan (which had great acoustics) and it's now being used in an empty recreation tent in Kuwait to piece together a song about war. This is just one example of the many talented songwriters we have serving our country.
Nashville To You, LLC is accepting submissions immediately and service members will be notified of the results of the song selection process by early January 2010.
Lex Lipsitz said, “I know many musicians who are currently serving in the US military. When I learned that soldiers were coming together and creating music amidst the chaos overseas, I felt this was something that needed to be shared on a bigger scale. After I received enthusiastic feedback from some of the multi-platinum artists I do business with, I was able to get the ears of the majors, now I just need the songs!”
Nashville To You, LLC also plans to document the search and recording process for a special half-hour episodes that contains, one Soldier, one Song, three Surprise Artists/Producers, friends and family and one compelling and moving Story.
